Intern - Associate Data Center Operations Technician

BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
Provide operational support for installation of systems hardware and peripherals within Epsilon data centers and related facilities.
Identifies, isolates, and resolves problems.
Work in conjunction with the technical support staff to implement immediate resolutions to more critical problems.
Perform inventory, cable servers and assist with any other duties in the data center.
Manage Critical Facilities ticket queues to process change requests through the tracking systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES o Organize and manage hardware repairs o Maintain system security o Configuration management for facilities work o 24/7 Data Center must be able to work all shifts as needed o Troubleshooting server hardware and connectivity working with engineers o Escorting vendors o Racking servers o Asset management and validating inventory o Installation of new server racks o Manage install process for the team o Maintain the necessary operational excellence in the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service delivery processes and framework o Ensuring patch cabling and cable management compliance o Running copper and fiber cables o Labeling all devices and cables per standards o Shipping and receiving duties including validation and tracking o Performing de-commissioning functions o Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis and task prioritization REQUIREMENTS AND
Qualifications:
o Willing and want to learn critical systems infrastructure equipment in a high availability data center o Must have a strong work ethic o Willing to work on-call rotations with own transportation o An ideal candidate knows how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also knows how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.
o The position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
o The responsibilities of this job extend beyond day to day Data Center operations to include:
process improvements, peer training and projects worked in conjunction with other groups inside epsilon.
o Epsilon Data Centers are 24x7 environments.
All interested candidates must be willing to work the occasional nights and weekends around maintenance windows o Strong oral and written communications skills EDUCATION:
o High School diploma required o College or Technical training preferred with a focus on Information Technology
Experience:
o Experience o 1-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience o Ability and interest to work with shipping, moving equipment, cabling, clean-up and deploying new technology is a must.
