Here is a first-year Plymouth GTX that not only sports the color of passion but has the driveline to match.
The result of Elwood Engel's reworking of the Plymouth model line, the GTX was released as a deluxe trim performance car with no-nonsense sheet metal.
This car came with just two possible engines, the extra cost 426 Hemi and the standard 440 CI Super Commando V-8 engine found here.
Coded A134, the 1967 version came from the factory with a special cam and head design compared to the more pedestrian version in the larger C-body line.
On this car, the mill showcases the large dual-snorkel air cleaner, aftermarket air conditioning compressor, chrome valve covers, headers feeding dual exhaust and orange paint.
The GTX received suspension and springs for this environment and used them since a 4-speed manual transmission is behind the 440, backed by a Dana 60 differential.
Also here is an upgrade to Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes.
The red exterior is accented with twin black stripes that cross the small hood scoop replicas to end at the cowl and reappear on the deck lid.
The interior is also in black, featuring bucket seats, tooled vinyl door and seat covers, factory floor shift, Transaudio AM radio, 150 MPH speedometer, Sun column-mount tachometer plus oil and water temperature gauges, and under-dash venting.
Outside is the Belvedere GTX fender trim, hood-centered 440 callout, an NOS gas cap, lower rocker moldings, chrome exhaust extensions and the ribbed chrome grille with just-released quad headlamps.
This car rides on a set of red-painted steel wheels with small chrome caps, with modern BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires to keep it tight.
Provenance includes the original Chrysler Certi-card, original window sticker and original car payment receipts.
Want boring? Go down the street.
If you like 4-speeds in red, this solid girl might be your baby.
This vehicle is also eligible for our EXCLUSIONARY EXTENDED WARRANTY that covers a wide variety of components (certain exclusions apply).
